Upcoming Author Talk: How to Win the War on Truth
Join us for a book discussion and Q&A with author Sam Spitale, live on Zoom, Wednesday, May 7, 7 pm ET
We have a very special book event coming up in just over two weeks: Longtime Smart Politics friend and supporter Samuel Spitale will join us on a Zoom call Wednesday, May 7, 7 pm ET to discuss and take questions about his excellent book, How to Win the War on Truth: An Illustrated Guide to How Mistruths Are Sold, Why They Stick, and How to Reclaim Reality.
We often hear from Smart Politics members how frustrating it is trying to talk with Trump voters when the other person gets most of their news from the Right-wing media bubble and seems completely misinformed about various facts and developments.
Sam and I will discuss how his book can help us better understand why that misinformation is intentionally created and is so effective—and from there, how we can improve the effectiveness of our Smart Politics conversations, including dealing with someone’s dogged belief in conspiracy theories.
Join our live Zoom call Wed. May 7, 7 pm ET
To join the call live on May 7, participate in the discussion, and ask Sam questions, sign up for our weekly email newsletter on this Google form, if you haven’t already: https://forms.gle/XB9uw5rtzub5RF3e9

How to Win the War on Truth: An Illustrated Guide to How Mistruths Are Sold, Why They Stick, and How to Reclaim Reality
About the book:
“We’re bombarded with information like never before. Some of it’s true, some of it’s spin, and some of it’s flat-out fake news. And that’s by design. Propaganda helps governments and corporations sell us products, lifestyles, and ideas. Sometimes the agenda is harmless, but other times it’s destructive, and it’s not always easy to spot the difference. Whether you want to be informed on the issues or debunk misinformation wherever you encounter it, How to Win the War on Truth is here to help.” Downloadable Reader’s Guide

What is the Smart Politics Way?
Smart Politics encourages and teaches progressives to have more productive conversations with Trump voters. We believe the most effective actions for achieving short- and long-term progressive goals involve talking one-on-one with and listening compassionately and constructively to folks with different opinions.
