Hello everyone!
Here’s your tip of the week PLUS two inspiring quotes and three questions to ask yourself and others.
1 Smart Tip
To increase your political influence:
Approach people who disagree with you as potential allies to be recruited rather than enemies to be defeated. Once you do, some will support your efforts outright while the rest won’t work as hard to defeat you as they did before. No matter how many people you convert, you’ll be closer to achieving your goals.
2 Smart Quotes
“The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.”
― Sun Tzu
“He drew a circle that shut me out-
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win:
We drew a circle and took him In!”
— Edwin Markham
3 Smart Questions
Think of someone whose politics you disagree with. How do your feelings toward them change when you think of them as a future ally rather than an adversary?
How welcoming is your circle of political friends to people who hold somewhat different views?
What can you do to make becoming a Democrat (or liberal or progressive) more inviting to people who identify differently?
